Fun
Many Carolina students say that participating in the London Program was the most significant thing that they did while they were at UNC-Chapel Hill. And they say this not just because they saw museums and galleries and historical sites or got credit for a wonderful academic experience. They say this because they had fun on the London Program!
But it is a special sort of fun--fun that has "staying power." Lots of laughs, certainly, but also the fun that comes from seeing something new or from visiting something which one has dreamed about visiting for years or from having a life-changing insight about oneself and the world.
Sure, we have the fun of our own private cruise on the Thames River, but we also have the fun of watching the waning evening sun on Big Ben and Parliament as we cruise by them.
We have the fun of seeing the finest plays in the world, performed by the world's greatest actors.
We have the fun of wending our way to lunch at the oldest pub in London, but we also have the fun of seeing magnificent St. Paul's standing nearby, reminding us of all that the City of London has endured.
We have the fun of standing in Westminster Abbey.
We have the fun of eating together and bull sessions and partying together, and we have the fun of seeing Shakespeare's birthplace.
More than 2,353 participants have thrilled to that sort of fun for 34 years. Click on some of their faces to see what they have to say about fun and what the program meant to them.
